Lewis Bjorgo, 91, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Broen Memorial Home.

He was born Aug.10, 1916, in rural Underwood, to Alfred and Leita Bjorgo. He grew up in the Phelps Mill area of Otter Tail County and received his education at Barnhard School. He drove truck until joining the U.S. Marine Corps., where he was a part of the 4th Marine Division in the South Pacific including Iwo Jima.

After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he worked for Anderson Construction as a crane operator.

On March 29, 1971, he married Bernice P. Anderson. She died Oct. 31, 1989.

He married Ruth Bakken on Aug. 1, 1992. The couple made their home on Wall Lake and spent their winters in Texas.

Lewis enjoyed traveling, attending the 4th Marine Division conventions, golfing, hunting snowmobiling, fishing and being outdoors. One of his loves was his Model T Ford, where he drove in many parades and enjoyed giving children rides.

He was a member of the VFW, Elks Club and Tingvold Lutheran Church. He loved children and was a loving step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bernice; three brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation: Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church

Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Tingvold Lutheran Church, rural Underwood
