    • ILLIAM FOX PASSED AWAY AT WITTENBURG

Funeral services will be conducted from the Griebenow Funeral Parlors for William Fox, 77, Friday afternoon at two o'clock. The Rev. R. E. Ortmayer of ST Katerines' Episcopal church, Owen, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Riverside cemetery.

William Fox was born Feruary 26, 1863, at Perdinsville, N. Y., and when a small boy of three years of age he left the place of the his birth, settling in Wisconsin, where he had spent the remaining years of his life, the greatest portion of which have been spent in Owen.

On October 22, 1896, he exchanged the holy vows of matrimony with Emma Williams at Greenwood. The couple were blessed with six children, four daughter, Mrs. R. J. Chritainson of Milwaukee, Mrs. C. F. Parson of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Marshall Skinner of Cumberland and Mrs. John Larson of Wittenburg; and two sons, Walter of Milwaukee, and Neal of Red Wing, Minn.

Mr. Fox had been a resident of this city ever since its early pioneering days and a good one. He worked hard and had a long fine service record as an employee of the lumber company during the lumbering days of this community.

The past few years he spent leisurely, although his enjoyment in life was hampered the past four years by illness. His courage and spirit kept him going and regardless of how sick and feeble he was at times during this span of illness he appreciated the efforts of his wife and family for him.

The past year he and Mrs. Fox had made their home at the Vinton nursing home at Neillsville, which two weeks ago was destroyed by fire. It is reasonable to believe that the shock of the fire and the moving to Owen and then to the home of his daughter, Mrs. John (Ida) Larson at Wittenburg, weakened his physical condition and hastened his departure from this earth. He had been at the Larson home two weeks prior to his passing away at 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1941, he had been very sick and in a weakened condition.

He has no others to survive him other than his family and many friends. Pallbearers at the service will be Eino Backa, Carl Stenseth, Bert Cattanch, Harvey Weddig, Clifford Downing and Dr. H. H. Kirkhoff of Eau Claire.
