      Obituary for Clifford Shol
Clifford Shol, age 99, of Underwood, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, MN.

He was born on December 1, 1908, at his home in Friberg Township of Otter Tail County, to Carl and Tillie (Kugler) Shol. He attended country school through 4th grade, when he had to quit to help on the family farm.

On May 5, 1934, he married Vollie Swanson. After working in a logging camp up north, and other miscellaneous jobs, they ended up farming in Maine Township after buying Vollie's home place. They lived there until 2004, when they moved in with their daughter and husband in Alexandria. Later they moved to the Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls, and then to the Broen Home in Fergus.

Clifford was interested in everything, and loved to read to satisfy his curiosity. He could make or fix anything he set his mind to, and he built beautiful wood pieces - from furniture to novelty items. He loved to spend time in the woods. After quitting dairy farming in 1966, he had an auto body repair business for several years. He enjoyed traveling, and went on many trips to California to visit Vollie's family, and with his daughter and husband in their motorhome to northern Minnesota, Michigan, and states west. He always had his metal detector along to find that big treasure!

Preceeding him in death were his wife, Vollie, who died 51 days earlier; parents Carl & Tillie; sisters: Mae Anderson, Myrtle Bauman, Lillian Staff, and Ruby Bachmeier; his brother Walt; and an infant grandson Timothy Shol.

Survivors include his children JoAnn (Arlen) Anderson of Erhard, Wayne (Wendy) Shol of Underwood, Eileen (Keith) Anderson of Alexandria, and Judy (Eric) Neumann of Cedar MN; his brothers Floyd (Lorraine) Shol of Erhard, and Russell (Vivian) Shol of Fergus Falls; his sister Hazel Magdich, brother-in-law Ben Bachmeier and sister-in-law Pearl Shol all of Fergus Falls; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and 2 step great great grandchildren, plus many many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church

Service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls

      Clergy: Reverend Gary Kitchin
