    • Tonnes Aarrestad, 82, of East Hampton, died Sunday, (February 6, 2000) after a period of failing health. Born in Bryne, Norway, on May 24, 1917, the son of the late Peder and Martine (Hadland) Aarrestad. In Norway, he graduated from Rogaland Agricultural College. He served as a soldier in the Norwegian Army during World War II, and was a P.O.W. for a short time. He was then active in the Resistance Movement for the duration of the war. After the war, he married his wife, Ina (Berentsen) Aarrestad, on May 26, 1945. They immigrated to the United States in 1950, settling in East Hampton in 1952. He was an inspector for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft until his retirement in 1982. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman, hunter, and gardener. He also enjoyed camping, cross-country skiing, spending time with his family, and listening to classical music. He was a life member of the Belltown Sportsmen's Club. Besides his wife Ina, he is survived by his two daughters, Marilyn Aarrestad and her husband, Calvin Innes, and Ingrid Aarrestad and her husband, Narain Scott, all of Stafford; his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Lisa Aarrestad of East Hampton; his three sisters, Margit Pedersen, Anna Bringaker, and Maalfrid Nielsen, all of Norway; his four grandchildren, Siri Scott, Erik Innes, Kelsey Aarrestad, and Ansel Aarrestad; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Jorgen Aarrestad, and a sister, Gudrun Ree. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton, with the Rev. Thomas Kennedy of the First Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday, from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Belltown Sportsmen's Club, 12 Daly Rd., East Hampton, CT, 06424 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
